generative design table
This project features a walnut wood table with traditional joinery and no glue, inspired by classic Italian furniture. Its main innovation lies in using generative design and algorithms to create the structural joints between the tabletop and legs. These optimized joints feature reduced material to serve as a striking visual differentiator for the piece. Crucially, the process mixes the wood sawdust wasted from making the table with PETG filament. This creates a sustainable composite material used to 3D print the joints, merging high tech with eco-conscious craft. Designed for Inovart 3d collab between Maria Meireles and CMEMS.
